There is lots of news this month. You have already noticed that the Las Cruces and El Paso Groups have combined forces to publish The Border Connection. That will mean a lot of advantages - better communication between the two groups, and a considerable saving on mailing costs for both. The editors: Paul Wasmund and Barry Levine - are to be thanked and congratulated for getting this cooperative effort off to a fine start.
LCAUG has a new slate of officers. If you missed the last few meetings, you should know that Tim Aiken is First Vice-president, Bob Abernathy is Second VP, H.C. Stanford is Treasurer, and Ann Kurtz is Secretary. If you know these folks, you will see that we have a lot more Apple II expertise among the officers than in the past. The vice-presidents especially are going to work toward improved balance of programming for Apple II and Macintosh users.
Art Harrison will continue to manage the Macintosh software library, and for the moment, H.C. will combine the tasks of Treasurer and Apple II librarian. Robert Thum and Harry McCaffrey got a well deserved vote of thanks for their service to the group last year, especially because unexpected departures left their slate of officers short handed. Now they are looking forward to the chance to bring their computers and join the fun like the rest of us.
It is a little early to announce a program for February, but as the year goes along we will try to plan programs, short courses, and demonstrations to meet requests for information about desk top publishing, about Hypercard, and about major software tools like Appleworks and Excel. If you haven't been coming lately, come join us again soon! If you've got news or information for the rest of us, speak up! And if there's help or information you need, let one of the officers know.
